From Dreamers to Fiancés
We’ve been together for eight years, ever since we met on Walpurgis Night in 2018. From the very beginning, something special connected us: our shared love for Disney.
The movies, the parks, the feeling of magic - we’ve always been captivated by it. Back when we first got to know each other, we used to send photos of gay couples in front of the Disney castles, dreaming that one day, we would take a photo like that ourselves.

It didn’t take long for us to realize we had found true love. Our spontaneity, our love for adventure, and the fact that we are so much alike made it crystal clear.
What we didn’t know back then was that one day, Holger would ask me the biggest question of all inside Walt Disney’s very own office in Burbank.
💌 The Proposal – Surrounded by History and Magic
We climbed the old stairs of the historic Animation Building, all the way to the top floor. At the end of the quiet hallway, Drew from the Walt Disney Archives was waiting, our Disney angel for the day.
He opened the door, and there we were: standing in Walt Disney’s original office.

We were completely alone. No other visitors. Just us, Drew, and this incredible sense of history. Soft piano music was playing in the background - “Feed the Birds,” Walt’s favorite song.
The moment felt different from anything we’d ever experienced. Warm light filled the room, touching the old wooden desk and the shelves lined with personal memories. Time stood still.
And then Holger turned to me, tears in his eyes, went down on one knee and asked the question of all questions.
Drew quietly captured the moment for us. 🥹

Being allowed to enter Walt’s office at all had been a surprise. Holger felt it instantly: there was no other place in the world where Disney magic felt this real and no better place to ask.
💖 After - On Cloud Nine Toward Walt Disney World
We stepped back out into the hallway, overwhelmed with joy. Laura, who oversees the Walt Disney Archives, congratulated us with a warm smile.
I was shaking, crying with happiness, and covered in goosebumps like never before. We walked out of the building hand in hand, both knowing our lives had just changed forever.
A few hours later, somewhere high above the clouds on our flight to Orlando and Walt Disney World, we shared the news for the first time, with our families and then with the world: We are engaged and it happened inside Walt Disney’s office.
✨ A Once-in-a-Lifetime Moment
As far as we know, ours may be the first (gay) engagement ever to happen inside Walt Disney’s original office at The Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.
A place where dreams were born became the place where our next great adventure begins.
Walt once said:
“If you can dream it, you can do it.”
We dreamed of a life filled with love, creativity, and a little pixie dust and this magical “Yes” was the perfect beginning.
